Two Steps to Effective Email Marketing

August 1st, 2009

If there’s one thing every email marketer wants to know, its how can I be sure I get effective email marketing and the answer to this question: When is the best time to send an email? By the time you finish this article, you’ll finally know the answer.

The thing is, its pretty darn obvious why this question is asked all the time. If all of us email marketers know when our readers are using their computers, then there’s a much better likelihood that they’ll look at it. And of course if they do look at it, they’ll probably open it, and go to our sites, use their credit cards and buy our stuff.

And so email marketers try to find the sweet spot: That point when the recipients email inbox is fairly empty, so your email will be easy to spot. Maybe you want to find a time of the day when the recipient has a few minutes to spare. Perhaps you look for a day of the week when its likely our subscribers are sitting at their computers.

Unfortunately this isn’t exactly science. We can do much better than simply guessing when the best time is to put cash in our pockets.

I follow a simple two step system that helps me to be more certain as to exactly what is the best time to send email.

Step #1: Find out when most of your recipients are more likely to be online.

You don’t need to guess! Better, check your logs. Know when your website is the most busy. And certainly, know when most of the people on your list joined. If you can find out if there’s a pattern that they joined on a particular day and approximate time range, then you can safely say that is the best time to send an email.

TIP: If your audience is worldwide, then people who sign up for your list on their lunch break in Mumbai is a completely different time then those who are joining during lunch time in Chicago. If you use a service like GetResponce, you can list by region, which allows you to actually send emails to a worldwide audience.

After you have determined the time when most of your recipients are online, you can begin sending mail out at then. But for really effective email marketing, remember Step #2

Simply step #2 is to: Test your results:

Because your traffic logs and autoresponder statistics might suggest that lots of folks joined during their lunch break doesn’t mean that twelve noon will be the best time to send emails. Rather, you should find that your readers are most responsive later in the evening, when they have come home and the family has retired. You may find that they are more responsive to your offers in the morning.

The important thing to remember is to be sure to find out when your recipients are online serves as a beginning only. You will however need to test your list to find out when they’re most profitable. What that ultimately means you need to start creating identical emails, splitting and testing your list, and broadcasting your emails at different times of the day.

Let your subscribers vote with their wallets. Tracking and testing is the only way to very effective email marketing and to know for sure when your list is the most eager to respond to your offer.

A Kick-Ass Scheme On Fighting Spam.

July 28th, 2009

There is no excuse any more.

Everybody is suffering from spam. I just like to share my knowledge in fighting junk e-mail for more than 10 years. With the easy techniques I use now I became completely junk e-mail free for almost two years now.

Here are some principles which solely are less effective but in total sum up all of my experiences which I made in the last couple of years. And all of this principles apply to every Internet user, from occasional to power user.

Rule 1 Never publish your real address online. Never ever. Post your address in Myspace, Facebook or even your own site and you’ll be flooded with spam within minutes. Whenever possible, try to hide or obfuscate your e-mail address with Javascript oder generate a picture out of your address. Coding it like name-at-domain-dot-com is not enough.

Rule 2 Forget about all tools and filters. Don’t trust your ISP’s junk e-mail filters. From complex regular expression patterns and black listing of known bad mail servers, to semi smart Bayes filtering, none of them keeps its promises. They are always behind the current fashion in spamming. The problems with after all are not the spam mails that are not detected but the good mails which are unintentionally hold back or worse deleted.

Rule 3 Use throwaway addresses that can be deleted if they begin to pull spam mails. Try finding services which let’s you produce those addresses by a finger tip. Every of this fake addresses is redirected to your main address and you can even reply to them, while your real address is always obfuscated. This is by far the best way to communicate with machines, newsletters, shopping sites, etc. And what happens i you got spammed? No problem, just erase the targeted address and that’s it.

Rule 4 Never reply to spam UNDER NO CONDITIONS WHATSOEVER, just delete it. Never let them know that you read and even answer such dirt.

Rule 5 Never even open spam mails. They might infect you with a computer virus or confirm your address automatically in the background. Try to delete the suspicious message right on the mail server.

Rule 6 Never click on the links in spam messages, including unsubscribe links. This will only lead to more spam. Also it is best to not open mails from unknown senders in HTML modus.

Rule 7 Never buy anything from a company that spams. Don’t reward those guys for molesting you. Don’t visit their sites or ask for more information.

Rule 8 Use multiple email addresses for different purposes. This helps you to identify different authors and senders, and grants you filter more efficiently.

Rule 9 Use services where unknown or anonymous human senders have to authenticate themselves before their mails go from quarantine to your inbox.

Rule 10 Use mechanically generated disposable addresses for communicating with machines (e.g. shops, newsletters, web2.0)

Rule 11 Control if your e-mail address is visible to spammers by typing it into a web search engine.

Rule 12 Create a more complicated e-mail address, that is less likely to receive spam than one that can be easily dictionary-attacked. Best are entirely at random created addresses.

Rule 13 Stop using burned addresses. You will never be cleaned from a spammer’s list.

Rule 14 Never give out your login details to anyone. Not to your wife, not to your best friend and of course not to your co worker.

Rule 15 Always protect yourself the best way possible. New windows patches, an up to date virus scanner and a running firewall are a total must.

Rule 16 Stay away from Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Microsoft’s Outlook and Outlook Express. They are flawy and always an attacker’s first possible aim.

Most people would rather opt for the web host based on things that they see and hear.

There are many niche markets out there just waiting for the right affiliate to penetrate to them and make that dollars dream come true. Just remember that to be successful on your endeavor also means that time, effort and patience is needed. When you have been with one host for quite some time and seem not to be making much despite all your effort, leave that one and look for another.

Ebook Business, Start Yours Now!

June 19th, 2009

You can start your own online ebook business by simply following the simple steps listed below. The first step is to do market research so that you can determine the number of people searching online for particular niches. Carrying out market research also helps you to tell how many people do an online search every month for certain keyword phrases. It is important to first conduct market research so that you can put your priorities in an appropriate order.

You should ensure that there is enough potential traffic to make significant sales. When carrying out the market research, ask yourself the following questions; what is the number and quality of the free information that already exists online and the number of competing products that are already on sale?

Create a survey site, preferably a one-page website, which can ask people whether they are interested in the topic that they intend to create an ebook for. In creating a survey site, you can ask your visitors to advice you on what they feel needs to be addressed by your site and ask them whether they are interested in ebooks or a website on the topic.

Once you have created the survey site, create a pay-per-click traffic so as to drive the traffic to the survey site and stay at the sales page for long.Create the product by hiring a writer and arranging interviews with experts. Ebooks are normally large volumes of books, so they require carrying extensive research on the topic you wish to address.

You can visit other sites that can help you when writing and researching on the topic you want to write about. Once the product is ready, you can make sure to create a sales page. You should have a professional copywriter to do the work for you.
