Writing an Autoresponder-Friendly Sales Pitch is usually done in the form of an email. The goal of this email is to get the reader to click on a link in the body of the email. The link may lead to a landing page or to the web site of a retailer or company.

There is more than one way to write a friendly sales pitch email successfully. The intended customer base influences this. One type is for those who have already bought before. You want these people to buy again. The other type is aimed at prospective buyers, whom you want making their first purchase.

Either way, the goal is to get the click. And to get that click, trust must be established by the email so that there is a click on the sales link.

Perhaps the most important of the autoresponder is the subject line. It has to look like it is not canned. It has to provoke. It should intrigue. It should stand out from all the others. And it is critical to your success. If the reader does not open the email, the chances of your making a sale are zero.

Once they open the email, they will want to read something that interests them. Your theme must tug at their heartstrings. It must promise to fulfill their needs and it must promise to do this quickly. It must be a sales pitch that does not come across like one.

Never insult his or her intelligence, yet you need to engage him or her. Humor is effective, but it has to be vanilla, with no hint of controversy. But it should be interwoven with the subtle sales message. At the very least, it should tie in to what your product is or represents. You want to be friendly and open.

Be careful, though. Remember that it is a sales letter, not a serial novel. The story you create must have a goal. It must weave the sales message into the entertaining story that leads the reader to the sale. People nowadays do not want to read something that wastes their time. If a subtle sales letter is nestled inside an expertly crafted email, more sales will result.

Your story must be built around the key idea you have decided to use as what is being used to sell the product. It must hit them so their burning desires or wants are revived. The transitions you use in your story will hook the reader and connect it to some problem they have.

You are the answer to their needs. Your email must highlight the benefits your product offers. Do it effectively enough and you will not believe your bottom line.

Effective use of premiums, bonuses, free products, and other such enticements are very effective, as well as moneyback guarantees, too. These can be that final cherry on top that nudges the prospect into being a buyer.

Finally, autoresponders should not be long, maybe 700 words at the most. Basic text format is usually more efficient, as are basic fonts and font sizes. And do not be afraid to try different things to test what works best for your customers.

Are You Selling To Idiots And Suckers?

Selling on the Internet seems like it should be easy, right? You just put something up, slap a price tag on it and stick a picture of it next to a Buy Now button. Piece of cake.

If your business has been online for any amount of time, you know its not quite that simple.

To sell any product in any quantity that matter, you have to put some careful consideration into it and use the basic five-step sales formula. To over-simplify a bit, that formula is:

1. Get Attention By Appealing To His Basic Psychology 2. Show A Benefit That Appeals to Emotion 3. Prove It (repeat steps 2 and 3 as necessary) 4. Make the Offer 5. Ask Them To Do What You Want

Steps 2 and 3 are inseparable. Messing them up will almost always kill your sales.

The biggest mistake you can make when showing your benefits and proving them is to assume your prospects are idiots or suckers.

But people will believe anything that’s written I mean, if its on the Internet it must be true right? (insert shady wink here).

Not likely.

In fact, just because its on the Internet and so many shady marketers have taken advantage of the zero overhead costs that come with starting an Internet based business to sell crap, people are less likely to believe you.

Those shady Internet marketers (usually masquerading under the self-assumed title affiliate marketer) dont believe in what theyre selling. Since they dont believe in what theyre selling, they are by definition, selling to idiots and suckers. They have to trick their prospects into buying.

They don’t persuade, they scam.

They don’t convince, they con.

If you don’t believe in your product, you shouldn’t be selling it. If you cant scrap up the decency to offer only the product that you would use if you were in need, then get out of business and go work for someone else.

Many businesses are tempted to make outrageous and sometimes downright false claims because they feel a need to out do or at least meet the competitions claims. This is a big mistake.

If your competition is making those claims and they’re true, then they have the better product and should be outselling you. If that’s the case, your time is better spent improving your product.

But often, those claims are empty promises. If your product works the best at doing one thing, then tell people. In that case, your market is prospects who have been let down by the false claims of your competition.

They were promised the world and received only Antarctica.

Your now selling to people who have been let down by the over-hype of your competition.

To stand out from your competition (and most of the marketing world) you only have two tasks to complete:

1. Tell people what your product can do. 2. Make sure your product does exactly what you said it would.

That’s it. Nothing more. If you can do that, you’ll be ahead of your competition by a few miles. Even better, they’ll try to make bigger, more outrageous claims, pushing you even further ahead.

Sometimes, simpler is better. And the truth always wins.
