How to Effectively Build Your List

April 29th, 2010

So you’re looking for list building secrets and I don’t blame you. I’m sure you are aware that list building is the biggest part of any on-line business, but actually doing it appears terribly hard.

What you want is a magic bullet, or the list building secrets that no-one wants to share with you. Well guess what, they do exist. Yes there are some secrets that folks do not openly talk about concerning list building, but in the majority of cases it’s simply because they do not even know anybody else needs to know them.

First of all you need to improve the responsiveness of the list you’ve got, and this can be easy. How about doubling the click through rates, and more than doubling the sales from each email all without getting new subscribers.

To start off you need to stop sending the same useless emails to people that you yourself receive. You need to look at it in a totally different way if you really want to make a killing with each email you send.
People keep saying they value their subscribers, but when it comes to it they take but 5 minutes to write their follow up messages.

If you want the people on your list to be waiting on your emails and clicking on your links, you need to do a bit more. To start with you should write a proper news letter with actual content designed to help your readers. All it takes is a little effort to actually research your niche markets interests and write to them about this. Sometimes let them know about a real offer that will interest them, and you will see a much higher percentage than before will purchase it.

List building secrets are well kept kept because no one wants to listen. If you would like a responsive list you need to put in a little bit more effort, but is that really so bad.

Now, as to getting your list started in the first place, I suggest setting up a good capture system and joining giveaway events.

First of all you do not need to use your own product to use give away events, as PLR is usually accepted. So go and find some PLR related to your niche market, and submit it to every give away event you can.

By using this method you will build a massive list quickly, and by using the previously mentioned technique you’ll convert them into buyers.

Another technique of building your list is to find a joint venture partner and do ad swaps. This involves you agreeing to send their advert to your list, and them reciprocating.

To find JV partners you just need to look at who your biggest competitors are in your niche, and ask them if they would like to do an ad swap.

As you see these link building secrets are not difficult to understand, and they are simple to follow. This does not mean they won’t work, and they are the most effective methods you’ll find anywhere. Just try them for yourself and you will see, just how powerful these link building secrets are.

Mailing Lists As Part Of Your Business Strategy

March 24th, 2008

mailboxes

Many of the Internet marketing ‘gurus’ have been promoting business strategy programs recently.

What use is this when you’re just starting out?

When you’re just starting to build a business, how do you know which steps to take to get to the point where you have to start thinking strategically?

Well, first of all, what’s the difference between tactics and strategies? They’re both military terms, but they are useful in a business sense as well. Tactics are the short-term actions you’re performing with whatever resources are immediately available. Strategy is long term planning, where you define a clear goal or objective and then identify the tactics you will use to get you to that goal.

Pretty much every Internet marketer agrees on the value of one particular tactic. Even in the offline world, it is an important part of every business.

What tactic am I talking about? Building a list of prospects.

When you have a database of targeted prospects, you can promote to them over and over.

There are thousands of businesses which regard their mailing list as their most valuable asset. The late Corey Rudl claimed that his list was insured for a million dollars.

How can you quickly build a mailing list?

Use a squeeze page.

A squeeze page (or ‘name squeeze page’) is a web page where your visitor is presented with only two options – sign up, or leave.

Your visitor is usually given something of value in exchange for their name and email address.

Squeeze pages can be long or short. Many marketers are successful with squeeze pages where the whole page appears ‘above the fold’, so that visitors don’t have to scroll down.

Others create squeeze pages in the form of long copy sales letters, with testimonials, graphics, videos and more.

Your squeeze page is connected to an autoresponder service, which manages the technical aspects of the list – unsubscribes, opt-ins, spam complaints and so on. With a decent autoresponder service, you can decide exactly how often to email your list – every day, every week, once a quarter or whatever. You can send a broadcast message to your list, or to multiple lists, at any time.

snail mail

You can also have your prospects automatically switched to a ‘customers’ list when they buy something from you.

Once they’re on your list, you can offer a free physical product, such as a DVD or CD, or a printed report or newsletter, for which you’ll need your prospects to give you their physical address. That way, you can build your own targeted list of offline snail-mail prospects.

Once you have created a mailing list of targeted prospects, you can start thinking about long-term strategies rather than immediate tactics.
